The Heart

by Rodney Kirby   Sep 17, 2008

The hardest thing I ever did was let u go,
Because my actions displayed what my heart couldn't show.

Someday my heart will forgive me for what I have done,
For keeping you discouraged and staying on the run.

The heart told me so; he warned me of doing bad,
How could I be so destructive; why did I make him so sad.

The heart told me many times, do what you will,
But continue this path with me, and its me that you will kill.

He said it's not just her you will hurt, you will damage my beat,
I will forever be ruined, and lay at your feet.

My heart said I sincerely love once, and you've deceived me well,
Now your promises and truths I can no longer tell.

The heart promised me no more; and said I have hurt him the last,
For in the future you will love many and the days of loving one Are Past.

The heart said, I thought you were my friend; you might never see,
This is why I have abandoned you and this is the way things will be.

The heart made it clear that my days would, be full of love I cannot abide,
So forever cherish the days, that I stayed by your side.

A very sad poem of wrong decisions and loss. You penned this well and I enjoyed the read.
