Damaged

by Viola   Sep 17, 2008

The lost seasons of
Childhood, and playful days
Seem now out of reach

Simpler times when I
Was too young to comprehend
The gesture of his hands
On my unmarked skin

Now I carry the weight of it all
Somewhere hidden and deep
Where no one else is able to touch
The fear that runs through me
Like an electric current

I am frozen and cold
And you wonder
Why I can't let anyone near
Why I will not allow another soul
To get close enough to love me

I loved the simplicity of it and how it all still said so much. "The gesture of his hands/on my unmarked skin" explained it all and you didn't even have to go into details. And I can relate especially to the last 2 lines about not letting people get close enough to love you. Great job... 5/5!
