Waterlogged

by PHOEBIX   Sep 18, 2008

I pour myself in
Dive, dive
Into my life
Swim, swim

The waters turn dark
Where is up?
Where is out?
Drown, drown

Where is my lifeline?
Push, push
Struggle, struggle
Against currents

Surface and life!
Breath, breath!
Waves wash over
Dive, dive

The waters ever churn
Kick, kick
Where am I now?
Murk surrounds me

A quick gasp again
Life's breath
Not enough
Submerged once again

Swallowing water
Can't breath
Can't fight
Surrender to disaster

Eyes blink in sunlight
Harsh glare
Fresh air!
How did I arrive?

Throat burns as I breath
Lungs heave
Fluid spills
Where am I now?

Tossed upon shore
Dry sands
Empty lands
So far from home

Where do I go now?
Dive back?
Walk inland?
So tired I can't move

Where is all I knew?
So lost now
Exhausted
I cry myself to sleep

Awake the next morning
Still sandy
Still alone
I spy trees past the desert

Time to walk
Step, step
Slog, slog
Time to find a new home

Bare feet are warmed
Summer sand
Morning sun
New start of a new life

Where is the next ocean?
Dive, dive
Into life
Here I come
