It's Not Like We Were Angels

by brie kelly wise   Sep 19, 2008

I lost my mind long enough to say I've lost my dream
My first taste of heaven didn't give me enough hope
I'm also sick of this roller coaster town
One minute we're up, but we spend all our time on the ground
Look around at all these happy people
How many of us are dead inside
I wait in a relentless, breathless pause
Don't follow suit, and hold it all against me
I haven't lost you yet
Nothing about this seems right
I've lead you across the street
Don't you go too far
Why do we still cry every night
Nobody has gone farther than repair
Look around at all these quiet people
How many of us are really scared
So I pack my bags and let go of who ive been
I'm sure everything will find me once again
We start to lose the clear view
As the air freshener dangles
There's not much we could do
It's not like we were angels

It takes courage to admit that you are not happy and to admit that the people you grew up with are going nowhere.
It takes an intelligent mind to see this all as clearly as you have and you even managed to pour it all into a great poem, he he.
    Bravo, sweetheart, you did well.
A friend at my poetry club suggested I should read this and she was right;)
