A prisoner of love slightly
Resembles a prisoner of war
One walks the battlefield
The other walks the floor
Taking heed to every warning
Trying to avoid the landmine
Trying to keep it all together
While trying to stay alive
Taking chances everyday
Not knowing if tomorrow will come
Fighting for what you believe in
Never looking out for you; the number one
Making sacrifices for others
And never putting your needs first
Whether you take the bullet for your country
or you give the last dollar from your purse
Many of us give
much more than we will receive
And yet we wake up everyday
Still trying to believe
We try to understand
Why we are living in hell
While others have their freedom
and never stop and listen to the stories we tell
Death and taxes are a given
And war and love are decision based
We all want our freedom
With memories we can take to the grave.
