Duke Energy Catastrophe

by BornAgainWriter   Sep 21, 2008

I've learned very quickly there is a bright side to everything that you come across,
A beautiful bright side to eating off of Ramen noodles and crackers for over 48 hours,
No lights, no heat, no AC, no stove to cook, not even an oven to heat pizza- nothing; what a loss,
Can't even wash your own clothes, nor dirty dishes piling up in the sink, can't even take showers.

The city is dark, motionless and has gone mad, almost every house doesn't have energy,
Cincinnati has gone completely insane [ savages ] not even utilizing what we still have left,
Yet they can go ranting and raving in the streets claiming Cincinnati as a whole; a "we",
I could've been cleaning while it was daytime, but instead I just over slept.

I wake up cranky almost every single morning without fail; I know I should change,
I've learned to smile, to look happy and laugh at deep situations such as this; to be happy,
There is a blessing in every lesson, even though Duke Energy is being lazy insisting the trucks are "out of range",
We're being controlled by the Government which equals Republicans, now I see, Completely.

I'm thankful I can just barely get a warm shower and a phone charge to stay in contact,
I'm lucky to have a sink with running water [ cold ] and to have this pen and this line paper,
I'm lucky; I prayed that God wouldn't put US through anything we can't bear- to stay in tact,
I know for a fact I'll remember this day, this 48 hours 100 years later.

I just want to say thank you God,
For making me see how the world works,
My eyes are clearly opened God,
I'm thankful this didn't;t get any worse.
