Little Bird

by Deana   Sep 23, 2008

Little bird with broken wing
Oh how sad the song you sing
As you watch the flock breeze by
Have you forgotten how to fly

From the ground you see the sky
Longing deep for clouds on high
Wishing just to glide once more
Heavens beckon from the shore

Little bird with broken wing
Lying still beside the stream
Without freedom, hope is gone
Dying heart soaring home

You've really captured the sense of longing and sadness in a few, simple words. Very effective and affecting

Ah, deep, but slightly sad. it reminds me of my poem "song bird," assuming i was correct in interpreting the bird as a metaphor for live and living. well done :)

Different people can interpret this poem differently. It has a deep and sensitive meaning behind it. Wonderfully written. Flow and rhyme both are very good. Beautiful poem!
