My prayer

by rebecca lewis   Sep 24, 2008

Now i sit me in my desk
so i will be just like the rest
now i sit me down in school
where prying is against the rules
for this nation who is under god
to find speaking his name to be very odd its been going on for way too long
as if they don't even care that they are wrong
in the classroom no scripture may i recite
for it violates the bill of rights
but to you lord this i vow
beside my bed at night ill always bow
our hair can be pink orange or green
but theres no offense
its a freedom thing
the laws are specific the laws are precise
to pray aloud is a serious vice
for praying in a public place
slaps nonbelievers in the face
in silence may i mediate
the lords name is prohibited by the state
were aloud to curse and dress like freaks
and pierce our eyebrows tongues and cheeks
we can elect a pregnant homecoming queen
and the unwed father our homecoming king
but the ten commandments are not allowed
no word of the lord's may reach this crowd
its scary here i must confess
ans without the lord
the worlds a mess
amen
