WHAT ITS REALLY LIKE TO BE ME!

by Rashnique   Sep 25, 2008

Nobody knows whats it's
like to be me.
growing up in the projects
a bad place to be.

being molested day
after day.
nowhere to eat
nowhere to stay.

walking around with a big
smile on my face
leading family and friends
thinking everythings OK.

not knowing who to call
when I'm in need of help
being abused so many times
meeting different belts.

people look into my angelic face
what they see, a mask of disgrace
eyes that sparkle what a smile
hides the hate all the while.

good enough
i think i am not
remembered once
but now forgot.

vacant eyes
that drift away
floating into
yesterday.

I wonder if
I'll come to be
something more
than what you see.

A pile of lies,
a pretty face,
that hides the things
i can't erase!

I can feel the emotions in this poem. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Crime rate here is increasing as the minute pass in each day; week, month and year. I can very easily relate to the poem, for I live it; I see it and hear it.

What it's truly like to be you- you as in a person, a human being, I do not know. But I'd like to find out.

You poem speaks a book full of truth. And I liked it too much to even type out "a lot". It was great work.
