Waste Away

by Moose   Sep 26, 2008

If my heart stopped cold, stopped beating, could it still be torn apart?
If I took back all I'd said and done, could we try it from the start?
If you'd look at me like all the times you promised you would stay,
If you'd kept those promises, would I feel this way today?
If I walk away the way you did would all the sorrow vanish?
If I could learn to let it go would my heart still be in anguish?
When will all the torture, all the demons, waste away?
And if it had finally happened, would you listen to me say,
That I'm sorry I'm not perfect, that I wasn't all the more,
I'm sorry that you tore me down to find a rotten core.
But now how can you walk right by as I sit all on my own,
Pity me and wonder what grief, my way was thrown,
Because if you'd actually listen, give me a chance and see,
That everything you see right now is what you've done to me.
I'll walk myself on pitch black roads, pray that tears will never pour,
for I know that if I had one chance, I'd close that open door.

    Ah,
Good Job!! I think my favorite line would be
the first line. It really sets you up for the poem. It kept a steady pace and the flow was steady all the way through!! It was a really great poem.. i give it a 5/5!!
