The Loss

by Catherine   Jun 6, 2004

A single tear
Rolls down his cheek
There are no words
He can think to speak
This is the one thing he didn't prepare for
The one thing he didn't prep
How could anyone be ready
The direction said nothing about this step
He ponders, "What did I do wrong?"
"What could have I done right?"
"This wasn't in the rule book"
"This isn't as easy as flying a kite"
"What am I to do now?"
"My little girl was my whole life"
"How can I forgive, How can I accept?"
There was no one there to comfort
No one to console
So he was left by his lonesome
One very lost soul
No one knows what it's like to lose a child
Your only sunshine in the ugly world
No one knows until they're gone
Until they're alone in this dark world
