She takes it kindly and throws it away,
Even if this phrase could make us better,
It leaves me without an apology to say,

She responds with words written in a note,
I take it kindly and tuck it in my pocket,
Although it seems I'm trying to gloat,
I return the favor by presenting a locket,
"If you caught my heart... would you protect it?"
Inside the locket these words are engraved,
She smiles softly and hands me a ring,
The warmth in my heart makes me feel saved,
As gentle as the softest breeze in spring,
"If you had a second chance... would you love me forever?"
These words are whispered secretly in my ear,
A shiver tingles my entire body and soul,
This time I'm sure my emotions are clear,
Without her, my heart could never be whole...
