There's a crawling darkness in the world, The sun cannot subdue, It's deep inside the heart of man, Yes, each one of you. Nature, nurture, either way, These problems must be solved, To scared of blame to take a chance, Oh how we've evolved. Innocence is lost to most, Barren after youth, A false pretense of civilized, Is worn as acrid truth. Streets of carnage everyday, Where families grow and play, Is breaking down our moral sense, And slowly we decay. Brick by brick the walls fall down, And crush our waking mind, Leaving nothing meaningful, For us to leave behind. Fancy cars, giant buildings, Money just won't matter, When looking back on everything, Greed and pride did shatter. The simple roots we used to know, Have seemed to disappear, Our screaming voice, a whisper now, As tragedy grows near.
