Muffled Screams

--NOT a personal experience. Don't tell me you're sorry for me.

Actual title: Muffled Screams That Only You Can Hear

Tear stained pillows is where she lays her head
her eyes red from all of the crying she's been doing
Breaking down inside, her heart is shattered now
he's done something to her that can't be reversed

He's stolen her innocence, she's no longer pure
now her life is reckless and she goes without caring
Drinking away the pain and the memories of that night
wanting to rid herself of all that he's thrown upon her

They used to look at her as only a sweet little girl
but now that she's been taken advantage of, she's hideous
It's nothing that she can help but they don't care anymore
she's lost because he's taken away something special

She'll never understand why they see her this way now
he muffled her screams by holding his hand over her mouth
How a father could do this to a sweet child of only eleven
she'll never be able to comprehend why they don't believe her

Such a topic is very difficult to write about yet i feel your portrayl was beautifuly captured, the flow worked very well and your choice of wording was quite good. =]

I like this free verse poem for the content it is refreshing to see sympathy instead of harsh judgments of victims of abuse
the only healing id through compasion even though thre is no quick fix

your piece is well thought out
