The Burn I Feel

by Broken Ballerina   Sep 28, 2008

The curtains draw so slowly
The music sounds so far away
The audience starts to cheer
That spotlight is as bright as day

You're yet to hear my story
Have a seat, listen for a moment
I have pushed myself to the max
Yet show such grace in each movement

I feel the burn of a ballerina
But on stage not a single fall
My body feels dead, just one last turn
Yet my smile is there for the final curtain call

No one knows the true pain we feel
We seem to hide it so damn well
For this is the show of our lives...
We do what we have to, so those tickets sell

Gather round, hear me out
Hear this ballerina's story
I'm who feels the burn...
But yet I get the glory...

Oh my, that is so so so beautiful.. The rhythmic masked pain between these verses is leaking all the way through to the end. I really felt what ballerinas suffer. This was so pure and flowing.

Excellent job conveying the suffer but the pleasure to put on a great show. So GOOD!

You really reminded me of The Black Swan,, Natalie Portman was really worth that Oscar!
