Taking the Long Way (RIP Karlowski)

by brie kelly wise   Sep 28, 2008

Dedicated to david karlowski,
sept. 5, 1989 - sept. 20, 2008
who overdosed one night, and lost his life.
we all miss you.

There was no blood, no pain
Just a boy who thought he could escape
From this town, from this place
We all knew he wouldn't make it if he stayed
She lost the love of her life
Her unborn baby lost its daddy
He was only nineteen, but God he didn't have to try
To make one little girl so happy

They say he won't die in vain if one kid learns from it all
They say it should have been them
They say there's only one question in the air
Who's next, who will it be, cause God knows it's only fair

Nineteen years, pulling through can be so hard
One little day, one stubborn month, one little mistake
Eight whole days, the town can talk, cars that say
Rest in peace, David, go on today, today
Nineteen years, so little blood, so little pain
One little pill, one shaky thought, one bitter home
Nine whole days, nobody talks, pain will fade
One might say he's gone away, but not too far
We all might say he was so close, but he took the longer way
