Miracles need love too (5,7,5)

by Mr. Darcy   Sep 29, 2008

I

Summer adventures
An oak with tempting challenge
Climb me, reach the top.

ii

Higher, yes, higher
Using skill to reach the sky
Crack, branches give way.

iii

Brave little angel
Falls from the tree's twisted smile
In white slow motion

iv

Unforgiving earth
Speeds to crush her fragile strength
With the spite of ice

v

Bones crack, splintering
Along with her eerie cry
Darkness steals her joy

vi

Within dark seconds
She sees a dove in mid flight
Breathing life again.

vii

A guardian from god
Blesses this spirited child
With a life lesson.

viii

Nature is divine
Don't take this gift for granted
Miracles need love too.

Authors note: I realise that Haiku's are short form poems, but I thought it would be interesting to write a longer poem using a traditional short format. It is neither Haiku nor Senyru, rather a form based on the syllable and verse structure.

    Michael,

I have read this string of verses a few times now and it is just so very beautiful:)
Very unique too and it has been made with so much devotion...it just shines from the page!
    Very well done, my friend!

    Hugs,

Nice idea but to long I think. Whereas a Haiku is only three lines this should have been only three verses I feel.
