A beat that's not my own

by Wintersolstice   Sep 29, 2008

Searching through the oceans
waves of people washing over me
looking for his eyes
looking through an endless sea

I must find the lighthouse
wet cheeks
sinking into the depth
as the music beats

Searching in the wrong direction?
Floor awash with feet
stamping out my sorrow
-blurring my own heartbeat

Gulps but not of water
drink -the mist that clouds the sea,
that hides the light
but numbs the pain in me

Searching for an escape however,
always looking for he who is not there
Wishing, pleading, begging to be near...
the one that is nowhere.

and all the while dancing through a sea
to a beat that's not my own.

Alright I gave this poem a 5 because it was much much much better written than the last one I read.

    Beautifully written
    "Gulps but not of water
drink -the mist that clouds the sea,
    that hides the light
but numbs the pain in me"

    and the ending is fantastic.
