When You Look Away

by The Angel of Secrets   Sep 29, 2008

Your soul is covered by naked, painfully white skin,
Born so blind and so ignorant, so fragile and so thin.
Look at me, I'm shattered, my skin is filled with scars,
Look at me, I'm broken, in a world that was never ours.

Realize: I'm alive because I have a dream,
Don't hate me because I'm not what I seem.
I told you I was complicated, you said it was okay,
And I told you, you didn't know what you were getting into that day.

So don't hate me because I was honest, because I said what I said,
Why do you even bother, when my words didn't hit your head?
I stood there lonely, and you, you stood and you just stared,
Why bother crying when you never even cared?

You say the words are not in your power, but what am I supposed to think?
I told you I was dying, and you didn't even blink.
It may not be real to you, but guess what? It's real to me,
Don't say you're sorry to help you be who you want to be.

You barely talk to me, you turn around and you run,
Be a man, pick a fight, finish what you begun.
Kill me if you want to, just not now, not like this,
I loved you, even enough, to give you my first kiss.

You begged for me to take you back, to let you sleep in my arms,
But you don't realize my pain, you know nothing of the harms.
First you say, that in your world, I simply don't fit,
You said you were sorry, but you never even meant it.

Apologize because of me, not because of your selfish game,
Don't say you're sorry for you, cause then it's all the same.
Say you're sorry because of me, because it's what I need, and want,
Don't say you're sorry because you're afraid the past may haunt.

Why are you arguing for me to show you something you refuse to see?
Why are you fighting so hard, when you never even wanted me?
If you really wanted to loved me, you'd have opened your eyes,
Because when you look away, another part of my heart slowly dies...
