Happily Never After

by Kira   Sep 30, 2008

It's all any girl wants.

A prince charming,

A storybook romance.

To find her 'one true love.'

And some find it.

Some end up as ecstatic as

Cinderella when she produced

The matching glass slipper.

Or as joyful as

Sleeping Beauty when she

Awoke to the tender kiss

Of her love.

But I seem mor like

The ugly stepsister.

Tricked out of love

Simply because my

Foot was too big to

Fit the slipper.

My castle just happens

To be the one no

Brave and daring prince

Knows about.

And I often feel like

There is no antidote

To the poisoned apple

I bit into.

I've had my share of Beasts,

But none were tamed into

Belle's handsome prince.

I've kissed more frogs

Than could fill a pond,

Yet I've nothing to

Show for it but clammy lips.

Sometime's I'm sure

There is no prince for

Me.

They've all been taken

By the beautiful princesses

And I'm simply left

With my happily never after.
