Nickels and Dimes

V1
Check all the coat pockets
And our old backpacks
Try cupboards, pants, so we can buy
Something for me and you

V2
Thereâ??s a quarter under the table
Must be pennies on the bookcase
There are no dollar bills
This ain't a paper - it's a coin chase

Chorus
Nickels and dimes - it don't get any worse
Than looking in the gaping maw of an empty purse
That's when you're convinced
You're under a curse
Nickels and dimes it don't get any worse

V3
Look under the sofa cushions
Open all the bureau drawers
Surely there must be something
That we missed the week before

Chorus
Nickels and dimes are a lotta chump change
It's no fun when everything is out of your price range
Never dreamed I'd come to this
It's more than a little strange
Nickels and dimes are a lotta chump change

Bridge
Hey, mac and cheese is 50 cents
A can of chick peas are 59
Now we have enough for dinner
Fish out another nickel and dime

Chorus
Nickels and dimes - it don't get any worse
Than looking in the gaping maw of an empty purse
That's when you're convinced
You're under a curse
Nickels and dimes - it don't get any worse

    Corinne,

My family can relate to these lyrics much.
It's a struggle in life just to get through day to day without having to worry about money, which of course makes the world go 'round.
It's quite strange that I read this piece by you now as my mother and I were just discussing dinner for the next two days. It cost her $35 aus dollars for few pieces of chicken and meat which seem like nothing. It's a shame how much prices are going up in the world. It seems as though soon we will not be able to eat.

Hey, mac and cheese is 50 cents
A can of chick peas are 59
Now we have enough for dinner
Fish out another nickel and dime

The above was really held alot of emotion.

This was a very emotional piece which really struck a cord on my heart. Thank you for writing this. An enjoyable read.

Things are getting bad every where.

    Look under the sofa cushions
    Open all the bureau drawers
    Surely there must be something
That we missed the week before

How many times have we done this......digging for those lost and dropped coins...for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread...just to try and make it till the next payday.
    Good job.
    Take Care
