Inbetween

The land between heaven and hell
where our living nightmares dwell
the screaming and deceiving ruling our lives
the media constantly darkening our minds
things like 9/11 and Columbine
causing tears to wash away our smiles

with blackened minds, hearts, and souls
we've lost lives because we've lost control
anger and hate, we're letting it seep out
through the wholes of our own doubt
what happened to compassion; what happened to love
what happened to the hope that we got from up above
