Ballroom Romance

by Grunge Angel   Oct 1, 2008

Holding out my hand
"May I have this dance?"
Enveloped in this ballroom
Where there's no second chance

Our hands tangle like vines
Both our bodies tight
As we glide and spin together
Dancing on into the night

Movements become closer
Our legs all but entwined
Finding comfort in each other
Fate has been so kind

Now the ballroom is spinning quickly!
The guests become a blur at our sides
Breathing in our essence
While we stay for the ride

The walls begin to crumble
Windows shatter, portraits face the floor
Everyone evacuates
Flooding out the door

The ceiling topples in
Chandeliers plummet to the ground
The stairs are all but broken
And in the middle of the sound

There we stand together
Your arms wrapped up in mine
As it all collapses before us
Until the end of time

Yet a whisper of the truth
as I say "I love you"
Just know that the world will fall
before we ever do.
