Vacancy

by N J Thornton   Oct 2, 2008

She wore the latest fashion;
ebony lace, stiletto heeled
leather boots and
titanium jewellery,
adorned with pearls
and metal clasps.

Apparently,
having all eyes on her
took the ache
of loneliness away.

Though, it didn’t take away
the vacancy in her expression.

It rested quietly,
somewhere between
our reflections of infinity,
and her covert, crystal rims
when I peered into
her eyes.

Willing; waiting
for her to blink.
