Walking Away

by Dying Beautifully   Oct 4, 2008

A slam of the door,
A break in my heart.
A ring on the floor,
The ending to the start.

A tear in his eyes,
A smile on her face.
No longer will she cry,
She's in a better place.

Bags packed and in the trunk,
He begs her not to go.
Their love is on the last rung,
It's officially just a show.

She's walking away,
And tells him she is done.
He stays there with nothing to say,
For he's lost his only one.

The car door slams shut,
The engine blares to life.
Spinning tires leave a rut,
And she no longer is his wife.

She drives along,
Going to fast.
Singing to the songs,
And walking away from her past.
