The Broken Doll

by a broken smile with a broken heart is a poets life   Oct 5, 2008

A chill down her spine
The wind on her hair
The shivers on her body
Every one stares.

The trembling on her lips
The dry tears on her cheeks
A broken smile hides within.

The trees slowly turn a bright yellow.
She stands here with no jacket on
Gazing at the beauty the tree has.
The wind kisses her skin
Numbing her pain.

A broken doll walks aimlessly
She's losing her mind
The hurt on her heart no one can understand.

A raven stands on that beautiful tree
Watching her every move
Quiet...Steady...Observing

The broken doll stands on the cold bench.
Spreads her arms,
Her bare feet turn blue
From the icy wood.

The bitter breeze rustles her hair
Making her face look wild

The raven still, steady
Watching her...Observing
Like a statue on the color changing tree.

The last piece of her sanity
Evaporates from her
Just as the heat of her body.

Blue lips
Blue feet
Dilated eyes
She's dead inside and out

The raven stares and waits
For her slow death to finish its job.

Blue lips
Blank stare
Blue feet
Her body laying steady on the ground

The raven flaps its wings
Another death it has seen.
It flies to the closest rose bush
Plucks a rose
The one with the bigger, sharpest thorns.

Broken doll laying lifelessly on the ground
Blue lips
Blank stare
Blue feet
And a rose gently placed by her heart.

I find this poem very interesting. It wasn't much at the first I found, it kept me enough to read.

You then introduced the raven. Which in many cultures the Raven is sometimes responsible for playing tricks on people, but you also used it in conjuction with Edgar Allen Poe's Raven, which most people would link with death.

I find it quite refreshing. you get a 5/5. Very well.

P.S. In some cultures crows and Ravens are the carries of the dead to the next world. If your bored you can check out some of my poems :D

I am going to be honest with you :) because I'm like that haha :) I actually normally don't go for these type of poems I prefer poems with a rhyming scheme. However :) This poem was unique because I haven't yet read one like this before. It's full of description which creates a very vivid image in the readers mind.
    Amazing poem :) 5/5
