She's just standing there alone in the dark
Can't see in front of her
Not knowing if she might step in hole
But she just starts walking
Not caring if she trips and falls
Not feeling the ground under her feet
Just staring out straight ahead
With impassionate eyes
Then when she finally falls
She starts screaming at the top of her lungs
She asks in a hoarse voice
"When can I get out of this place that I call a home?!
"This is not what a kid should have to go though"
As she thinks about what she just saw back at her house
She thinks why does her mom love him?
Why does she put up with him hitting her like that?
She try's and try's to help her
But she just pushes her away
She turns around and looks back at the house
She sees her mom and her mom's new husband
Moms on the floor
He's just standing there watching her though the window
A sick grin on his face
She starts running to the house
But just as she gets to the front door
He locks it
She beats on the door until her hands bleed
She slips to the floor crying
As she listens to him beat her mom some more
That's all she could do... listen...just listen to him
Then the door opens
He steps out onto the porch and lights up a cig
Then kicks her out oh his way
Then as a strange feeling came over her
As all the years of memories go though her mind
She jumped up and grabbed his shoulder
And straight up punched him in his face
As he falls back in shock
She pushed him with all her strength
She jumped on him and started beating him with her fists
Then when he gets over the shock,
he shoves her off him
as she lays there on her back trying to breathe
She feels hands on her shirt
Then she smells his nasty alcoholic coated breath on her face
As he screams at her, he punches her with each word
Then she felt him being lifted off her
She looks up though eyes that are quickly swelling shut
And sees a man that she haven't seen before beating "him"
She starts to feel like the darkness is closing over her
She knows that's she's about to pass out
Then she feels the warmest hands lifting her up
And just holding her and rocking her back and forth
And telling her that it will be all right
For some reason she felt the safest in this strangers arms
Then she sees the police roll up to her house
And as she looks back up to the stranger
She sees his badge on his dark blue shirt
It says Officer Mark Brown
Then when the EMTs come over to take her to the hospital
But she some how found some strength
And grabs his shirt and wouldn't let go
.....he never left her side though out that long night
That Officer came to see her every day that she was in the hospital
She now has a place to call home with
Officer Mark Brown

this is based on a true story.
