Angel

You've always been my angel
The warmth of impossible touch
Despite this young woman's follies
Your heart has never shut
We once dared the dance
Behind our moonlit screens
We shared our coupled hopes
We formed our married dreams
Nights made all to short
Mornings to clear the eyes
We should have slept so long ago
Oblivious in long goodbyes

Why couldn't I hold on longer
Was it really all so hard
Temptation of touch wasnt worth it
I crushed your Angel heart
I've tried my life so desperately
To find what you once gave
In others who came before me
Love's never felt the same

Now I come back running
To the love I held before
Expecting your open arms
But finding only the door
Some never find true love
How could I be such a fool
I lost the Angel meant for me
One sin I can't answer for
I fear my judgment day
If God is real and asks me why
My Angel slipped away
