Of Whispers Unwanted

by RB   Oct 8, 2008

I bring to mind the blurry nights you told me wants were my needs,
And said that I was sadness disguised in blankets of beautiful tears,
It was then I wanted nothing more than blindness from my fears,
As your unwanted whispers left me falling to pieces of myself.

"I guess falling asleep at the wheel will take you to the unknown,
And kicking other's down is now the acceptable form of kindness,
So I'll bring you back to those childhood memories you can't get back,
Just don't be disappointed when it's not exactly what you imagined."

Holding onto memories that had long disappeared to nothingness,
You held me tightly as I drenched our hearts in painful understanding,
That never again would I be hand in hand with such careless ignorance,
As I settled for the warmth of the hand that slipped itself into mine.

Usually long lines in lengthy poems annoy me, but in this piece they were well done because they did not feel like they went on forever, they had a decent, well established tempo and they were each so wonderfully penned.

Especially love the honesty and use of emotion in this piece. Though I am shocked beyond belief that htere are no comments here yet.

    Excellent write.
