Plastic Rings And Memories

by Jenni Marie   Oct 10, 2008

Strolling hand in hand past the glittering promenade
Soft warm sand melting coolly underneath our feet
Tide approaching faster than we ever thought possible
Laughing, giggling like children as we make our retreat

Curled up together under twinkling overhead stars
Sharing secrets dreams and fears, staring out to sea
Knowing we'll be together forever has us euphoric
Basking in contentment, we're lost in total ecstasy

Heartbeat rising rapidly as you bring up marriage
Whispering that when we're together you're complete
Shivering pleasurably as you lightly kiss me on the lips
Wondering how I ever got to meet someone so sweet

Suddenly the small smile that's grazing these lips
Is now gone, again I'm left devoid of any expression
Yet tears are still falling from these broken eyes
Once again I'm left all alone and living in depression

For night has passed, cold morning has arrived
Grey clouds cruelly ripping apart these dreams
Just another pain filled day to get through arriving
More countless hours to stifle silent screams

Because now that another cold morning is here
Again you're gone and I'm so broken, all alone
Reminiscing about the happier memories we had
Once again constantly checking, waiting by the phone

Arms clutched on that teddy, praying again for sleep
Can't anybody tell that no, I'm really not okay
It's all the I love you's and bittersweet memories
That kill me a little more inside every single day
