My stairway

by AngelicDecadence   Oct 12, 2008

My life is like broken stairs.
Its dirty, and destroyed,
And the railings, all torn up,
Every mark, a reminder so sharp,
The hardships I've had,
And the pain I've gone through,

But I don't want a crystal stairway,
That has no blemishes,
And no marks, showing all the meaning,
That's beautiful
And everyone wants to walk all over,
I don't want to be a crystal Stair,

I want to be what I am, the little broken boards,
That, despite the destruction, still holds strong,
So still I walk,
Because no matter the exterior,
All stairs lead to the same place,
Up.

Great ending, I love just how positive this poem is. The narrator in it has obvously gone through some hardships. but overcoming them is the best part of life. Remember a crystal staircase, though beautiful and unblimshed, can easily shatter.

I love your comparison of yourself to the stairs. That was one of the best poems I have ever read here. 5/5
