He pulls on the chains
That bind him
Shouting in agony
As blood trickles
Down his arm
The spikes on the shackles
Digging deeper into
His wrists
His gray wolf tail
Nailed to the wall
And his wings
Tied to his back
He tugged and screamed
Tugged and screamed
As the blood, now,
Rushed out of his wrists
Then, a deafening crack
As he started to rip
The chains from the wall
He heard the crack
And started yanking harder
No more screaming
But adrenalin instead
Growling and howling
He finally tore the chains
Taking some of the wall
With him
He tore his wings
From the ropes
That bound them
And his tail
From the wall
He took a leap
And out the window
He flew
As he let the black wings
Stretch
Finally, he broke free
From the cage
He'd been bound to
For centuries
Now, with chains rattling
In the wind
He was free...
