Are Things Really That Bad?

I feel the guilt sometimes
That my life is gloriously good
And I know that oftentimes I don't
Appreciate it as I should.
I grumble and fuss about
Trivial unimportant things
And forget the many sorrows
That for others a new day brings
There are wars killing our countrymen
They give up their lives for democracy
And at home I complain about
The rates they're charging for tv
There are starving children
In every country of the earth
And yet I scrape my food into the garbage
As though it hasn't any worth.
There are beaten women
Who live their lives in constant fear
How can I gripe about growing older?
I've made it through another year...
There are people dying with diseases
Through no fault of their own
So If I feel a slight bit queasy
How can I moan and groan?
I seem to face my problems forgetting
That others are so much worse
I can usually afford what I need
When I reach into my purse...
That's not to say that I have everything
But there are those who have none
So from now on I'm going to try
To live this mission I've begun...
'I'm going to remember today
That my true problems are few...
And instead of focusing on myself
I'm going to try to think of you...'

This poem was inspired thinking of myself and so many other people who make too much of nothing when there are real tragedies happening in our world. Not to say that we can't all have our moments over what's going on in our own lives..I know I do..as long as we keep in in perspective..take care.. :)Michelle
