Because I Love You Like Moonlight

by Soulful Ensemble   Oct 16, 2008

I came running when the sun rang through
Just to hear the falling grace of the moon.
Mio dolce amour sits high up on the hills
With the sunflowers shinning, giving thrills
And here comes Don Quixote after the mill.

I said nothing when he asked me "when and where?"
I simply nodded and shook my head
As he went off into the moonlight, over there
Behind the prairie and below the sea bed.

Nightmares where I fall on my head too soon
That fade to black as they race up to the moon
And, like forgotten souls, come out to loom
They leave as images of you are all in bloom
Like a flower that never says its too soon.

Your flowery breath is an aroma for the soul
To escalate me to heaven with just one goal
To meet with you and hold that pretty hand
That burns with passion for its special man.

I'm sitting on an empty bench with an empty conscience
Looking for you in everyone's eyes but finding no sense.
When, where, why, how? Is the sun spinning towards me now?
I don't know-- I see your hair-- how much more 'til I see you there?

Minutes that turn to days in my mind twist and turn
To make deep thoughts of lucidness shine and burn
As the train takes just one more turn and flies
Just before hitting the brick wall below the skies.

I love you, I love you, like the burning rain
Which in my eyes is burning to kill the pain
Of waiting for nothing below a crumbling bridge
As I heal my wounds and pull the stitch.

And time heals all wounds but I don't know
Sometimes it wounds all heals and goes
Into the heart to stab and hurt the core
Of the soul that loathes until it gets used to all the gore.

I'm home alone with three cats, baby
I miss you like a burning star that floats.
Come back to me soon my lovely lady
Kiss away the cold that sadness cloaks.

Don't you ever dare feel the snowy fright
Shivering up your spine that is alright.
Because your worries don't really apply
Since my faithful heart will never die.

Extending my arms real far to reach you soon
I've strained my muscles like the moon.
It hurts to pay time for the crime of loneliness
But thoughts of you make it worthwhile-- yes
And it kills every ounce of stress.

I'm sending messages, encoded, in the air
That only my special love can really get.
When you return I'll kiss you right
...Because I love you like the moonlight.

Absolutely beautiful. Like a bittersweet fairytale. Lovely stanzas, my fellow poet/poetess.
