Beneath the Pain

by PHOEBIX   Oct 18, 2008

Beneath the pain of my loved ones
There lurks a boundless love
Under the shields, spikes and thorns
Hides softness untold

Behind spears of anger and doubt
Hope lies waiting
Black daggers of angst thrown
Cover vulnerable places

I have been blessed with vision
That sees beyond surfaces
To deep layers within
Revealed like X-ray images

I choose which layers I accept
I am aware of the dangers
I wade through the depths
It is the riskiest wager

To find the shining treasure
To reach the true hearts
Behind the shields and daggers
Of damaged souls is my job

For I have been where they are
I have pain of my own
I have traveled most far
To find healing and growth

My message is faith
And to hold onto hope
For beyond all the pain
Lies great love untold

For pain can be temporary
It does not have to hold power
When we grasp love's true sway
We are freer than we know

I find this stanza really touching"For pain can be temporary
It does not have to hold power
When we grasp love's true sway
We are freer than we know".
wonderful, very inspirational. Keep it up, kel.
