Separately Together

by reJoyce   Oct 20, 2008

We had a love that broke the rules
A piece of quilt that didn't fit
We were publicly quiet
And loudly private

Where enthusiasm didn't age
And a lull in activity
Just meant a rest
In each other's company

Though now we can't be
Simultaneously present,
Spirit doesn't have location.
And union, our bodies won't prevent

Because you always said
No matter how much
People never change
They only adjust

And I agree
No matter how much reflex or consequence
Hearts reaching for danger and risk
Will always stay the same

I liked this poem it is a good read. The only problem that I see is that the flow is a little off in some places. 5/5
