Carousel

by Anna   Oct 21, 2008

Searching through the darkness in my mind
into some light i'll find
that i really matter in this place that I am in...
Let me feel just one time that everything will be alright
Let me know that it will be okay...
So close your eyes and hold on tight
Here we go on a wicked ride on the carousel that's buried so deep inside my mind.
Close your eyes and hold your breath
Nothing here has laid to rest and the shadows won't stop moving so that I can't find the light.
Griping tight with eyes so wide, going to fight this one tonight.
I want so badly to someday just to feel content
Hold me close don't keep me far
Falling like a shooting star
So quickly I can't be revived
So here we go on a wicked ride
on the carousel thats in my mind, there is no one who tries to numb this pain
Spin around and close your eyes,
feel the wind and taste the lies, all I want is love that knows how to save me from this ride
Up and down with lights so bright, music to my ears tonight
drowning out the thoughts of sadness, memories I can't leave behind
Riding faster, griping tight
hear your hurtful words collide and stop the music holding back the pain I feel inside
Here again on this wicked ride, on this carousel that's in my mind
You won't let it stop and sweep me to my feet and that's just fine.
But listen closely and you'll find that this carousel that's in my mind is only what you make me out to be.

I really like this poem, i think the lines 'Nothing here has laid to rest and the shadows won't stop moving', and 'Spin around and close your eyes,
feel the wind and taste the lies,' are particularly powerful. i really love the way you seem to have captured innocence in a childs amusement ride and made it dark.
