Ropes

Did I ever tell you?
I hate my reflection
My smile
My laugh
So far from perfection
But you swear that I am
Everything I'm not
I hate the pain in my chest
I wish it would stop

Did I ever tell you?
I hate "what makes me"
Pathetic and sensitive
Compulsive and weak
I hate my eyes
My face and my voice
I open my mouth
What comes out is noise

Did I ever tell you?
I hate this poem
It's one that I wrote
When I feel alone
I hate its words
Its rhymes
Its thoughts
I hate the pain in my chest
I wish that it would stop

"So tell me now if you can swim when ropes are wrapped around your limbs" ~Escape the Fate
