It's dark out and my alarm clock is beeping.
I scramble to the foot of my bed to silence it.
My body aches as I pull the covers back around my ears.
My boyfriend's sweatshirt lays next to my pillow,
and his scent lulls me back to sleep.
I feel full and warm like a cup of hot chocolate,
and I know that if I get out, all that warmth
will spill out and stain my socks.
The patch of sky in my window is lightening.
I hold my breath as the birds start singing,
then let it out before my heart explodes.
