War Vs. Peace

It's the 1960s and you kiss me on the lips
While your hands are holding me at the hips
You whisper in my ear tonight
Telling you love me and wished you'd never had to fight
It's to fight for our country you'd always say
This year, it was in the month of May
This silent night in May was too quiet
For I knew the Turks had been at it again.
Firing at the British, hurting the mothers and children
Taking hostages and leaving our country in ruins
"I don't want to die" I told my husband one night
"Don't worry darling, it'll all be alright. I'll come back to you in hope and find you waiting for me."

Two years passed and my husband was still at war
I wrote him a letter telling him that the Brits should declare peace
I got a sudden chill in my bones when I turned around
And there was my husband standing there all pale and drenched with blood
"Once more, once more, a kiss for my love." he'd whispered
I got the meaning, he was going to go back to war and he knew he'd never come back again
To see his wife and child
I prayed to God "don't let my husband die, he is very young and just serving his country. He's not doing it out of hate. Please God, you just have to understand."

Another six months went by and I decided to write my love another letter saying the same as it had been said in the last
And he wrote back telling me that they'd declared peace
The Turks left the Brits alone and now the Turks are scared
Hoping and praying their country doesn't get in ruins like our little country of Britain once did
My husband showed me his wounds fully bared
I told him not to leave me again

The Turks and Brits shook hands on the agreement of peace between those two countries and now we don't fight anymore,
we sent troops, to help the Turks fight the loops.
