I want you to know why I said it was pretty. It is. It's got so much emotion and meaning and history in four very short lines that it took my breath away. It's pretty. I can see it. It is ugly. How that paradox may exist, I know not, but it does. It was too much at the moment I read it to describe how I felt because it crashed in with everything else from the night and formed this huge knot in my throat and my head and my chest And I couldn't. Now I can, and am even though I'm sure you won't like it.

    Teary eyes and lullabies
A slash on these two wrists

^^ what's scary is that a slash on two wrists makes people feel safe enough to fall asleep. Even typing that makes me want to cry all over again. I hate that I can picture it and then I can see bracelets to stand for each one. . .it's the last thing a friend wants to read from another friend.

    Stab me in the chest
And tell me what real pain is

^^ This could be taken so many ways. The literal-stabbed in the chest with something sharp or not so sharp, I suppose. Another could be emotional, like pain....because it's all stabbing. It's all irrelevant, really, because it can be taken either way and now im rambling. >.<"

Jesse, I hate and love this poem. Paradoxical poem. I'm sorry about my earlier comment. I really am. I hope this one isn't a waste of breath.
