Risking It All

I’m not the girl you think I am
There’s more to me than meets the eye
You think you know me but you really don’t
You don’t see the tears I cry

I wear a smile so you can’t see
This sorrow that I’m drowning in
I fake my laughter so you can’t hear
My crying heart from deep within

I never show you all my fears
So you think I’m brave and oh so strong

I fear that you’ll break my heart
If I let you see what’s inside
Like a man burying his treasure
My feelings for you I try to hide

It tears my heart each time you talk
About another girl
You tell me how you think that she’s

How can I be happy
When in silence, my heart is crying?
Losing hope, losing faith

I want to tell you how I feel
But I’m afraid to let you know

And not allow these feelings to show

If I told you that I love you
Would you still treat me the same and stick around?
Or would you leave me
With pieces of my shattered heart scattered on the ground?

It would be a major risk

But what is life without the risks?
And what is love without the pain?
No matter how bad things may seem
The rainbow will always shine after the rain

So here I am, risking it all
Pushing my fears aside
And if you don’t feel the same
At least I’ll know that I have tried

I’m sorry if I made things awkward
I’m sorry if I scared you
But I think that letting you how I feel
Is the best thing for me to do

Now all that’s left is to take a deep breath
And await patiently for your reaction
And hopefully your answer will bring me
Some sort of satisfaction
