Christ's Sacrifice

by reJoyce   Oct 28, 2008

Why do you continue to press that nail
When I came down from heaven
To be one of you
Wasn't the scourging enough?

Why do you pierce my hands that heal
When you persecute your brother
Don't you know I reside in him too
Wasn't the scourging enough?

I gave you my Word
The key to divine happiness and peace
And you regard it as just another book
Wasn't the scourging enough?

You feared my harmless love
Then hung me on a cross
And so, my life, you took
The scourging wasn't enough.

Oh Father, forgive them
They know not what they do
They know not that their pain
Is my pain too.
