October

by StandStill   Oct 29, 2008

Every sunshine swirl
nips giddily at your heels,
chasing you headlong into
the colder, more tangible air.

Everywhere you look you can see
rust and gold, tumbling into the piles
of sweet, warm smells-
the ones that linger long after they're gone.

It's just another period, really,
where we suspend our belief in another season
so that we may fully understand
God's tapestry of October.
