Strength of a Mother's Love

by zariieee   Nov 3, 2008

She walked up to the door of the church,
with hesitation to knock or make a sound.
The rain began to pour,
the sound of the drops becoming louder as they hit the ground.

She held him in her arms,
Too tender to let go.
Her innocent baby boy,
of which this memory he will never know.

She watched him sleep,
so peaceful and obliviously.
Her heart aching more and more,
as she thinks about what is going to be.

Her heart then screams "NO!",
but her mind knows she has no other choice.
For if she doesn't give him up to safety,
the Nazis will get to him first.

She strokes her baby's cheek lightly,
as tears silently roll down her cheeks.
She utters words under her breath,
"I'm sorry I have to leave.
I want you to live,
and this is the only way that could be."

Time is running out,
She knows she has to leave.
She whispers three words:
"I love you",
And gives her son the last kiss.

She sets him down at the foot of the door,
and knock s on the door twice.
She then runs swiftly into the night..
Crying so hard,
that her tears couldn't be seen in the rain..
