The Punk and the Hippy

by Dwite Fry   Nov 4, 2008

The scuffles used to work
When you were major players
When you still had the numbers
To stand up against the naysayers
But now there's 100s out every night
More than all of us put together
So keeping up a decades old fight
Seems to seem none to clever

They sat there as the sun dies
They kiss and she closes her eyes
The punk and the hippy took everyone by surprise

A slight difference in shirts and shoes
Is not enough to make things tense
If we all banded together we'd still loose
But it would make a bit more sense
When so many want to see us all go down
Just so they can doss around
We're never gonna be the last gang in town
But we just might stand our ground

He opens his mouth but just sighs
She giggles as she undoes his flies
The punk and the hippy took everyone by surprise
The punk and the hippy took everyone by surprise
The punk and the hippy took everyone by surprise

----------Appendix-------------------

This was originally written in 2002. The only lines that remain from THAT version is the last two lines of the second chorus. A hippy girl I know reminded me of it a few weeks ago.

I've never seen the point of in-fighting amidst alternatives when there's so many other people out there trying to get us.

So good! Reminds me of atmosphere's lyrics, the whole rhythm of it. Anyways, great job, I added this to favourites.
