The aftershock of a break-up.

by xX the left behind Xx   Nov 4, 2008

Here I am again.
The moon is round and full tonight.
Now is the only time I have seen it up so close.
So big, and round and enthralling.
It creates the illusion that I could just reach out and touch it.
Its slightly dim light floods onto my bedroom floor,
Spilling as far as the foot of my bed.

The night is still and not a soul stirs.
The sky is studded with uncountable stars.
Like a billion twinkling eyes looking down at you.

The sky is painted a dark royal velvet.
The shadows play on my walls and on the ceiling.
Creating figures and shapes which fuel the imagination,
And are the elements of dreams.

My room is empty and cold.
As empty as I have ever known it to be,
And colder than I have ever felt it before.

My room is even quieter than the world outside of it,
and the silence is deafening.
Driving me clear out of my wit as the seconds drag on.
All I hear are my own rapid, uneven breaths,
And the wild thumping of my heart in my chest.

I could feel the sweat trickle down my cheeks and down the back of my neck.
My head throbs wildly,
And my eyes burn.
My cheeks are splattered with red,
And stained with seemingly unending tears.

Great job! I can totally relate to this poem. Of course, everyone has gone through a break up but you can't spend your life sad about it, life is too short for that. But yeah, keep it up (:

No problems here at all. A perfect poem. I liked every second of it.

Creating figures and shapes which fuel the imagination,
And are the elements of dreams.

Very nice. The flow is great, but I think Sourav maybe cannot relate as well, so to the ignorant of the feeling, it seems out of place, when it is really spot on.

    Great job.
