Girl in mirror

When she used to look in the mirror she saw
A pretty girl
With dark wavy hair
Long curling eyelashes
And bright green eyes
She saw a smile that lite up everything
And she heard a laugh that was real and true
And now when she looks in the mirror
She sees
A girl
With tear stained cheeks
Smeared make-up
And red eyes
She sees a girl with her heart broken
Who is all alone
And still tries so hard to hold it in
She looks a little closer surprised
That this girl with so much pain is her
She wonders what happened
She wonders where the happiest went
I want to help her so bad
Help her get herself back
But as I look back into the mirror I realize
That the girl in the mirror is
me
