Heaven

by Still Slightly Broken   Nov 5, 2008

This hypnotizing lullaby,
is the one that sings me to sleep,
as my pen scratches the paper,
gentle rhythm it must keep.

Line by line it grows,
but words are all they will ever be,
no other sole could understand,
these darkened thoughts that consume me.

Keeping with the rhythm,
I start to quicken the pace,
directing my thoughts somewhere else,
a very distant place.

A place where I can be free,
to think and feel as I may,
my own little secret paradise,
where my ghastly ideas will stay.

I remain in my perfect world,
till I am forced to let it pass,
'Time for another absent minded day' I think,
as I put on my iron mask.

Time rolls by so slowly,
when everything surrounding you is mundane,
the only pleasure to keep me going,
is the thought of returning to heaven once again.
