The Death I Regret

by Ashley Washer   Jun 8, 2004

~I wrote this for my friend, shes having a hard time trying to come out to her parents~

The first time I told you I like girls,
you acted like you didn't hear.
You laugh and joke, about all the dykes in your life.
At night I sit in my room crying,
while trying to figure out how to tell you I'm just like them, and not like you.
I like girls and they like me, so can't you just let us be?
If only you had listened when I tyred to tell you who I was,
you might have been able to stop who I've become.
Night after night, day after day,
I lay there trying to hide my pain.
You killed my spirit, you Killied my hope.
Holding the knife in my hand, I start to cut.
Deeper and deeper my wounds become
My mind starts to fade.
Nothing matters anymore.
If only you had listened when I tryed to tell you.
All I wanted was to let you know that I found the one, and its not you.
Her name is Dani and she loves me too.
But now its to late because I killed me too.
Now Dani is all alone, she doesn't have me and I don't have her.
Now I;m the one watching her night after night, sitting in her room trying not to fight.
When she prays at night she prays for me to rest and my soul to finally be free.
I didn't know I would regret, what I did that night, until I saw the tears in her eyes.
So please Dani forgive me for what I did.
If I could I would go back to that day, just tell my parents and not care what they say.

~please comment, I would love to know what you think I did wrong and what you guys liked about my poems~
